Respected Members of the Board of Advisors

Mufti Irshad Ahmad Aijaz is the Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Board of a private sector Islamic bank in Pakistan. He graduated from Jamiat-ul-Uloom Islamiyyah, Binnori Town, Karachi and obtained his Shahadat-ul-Aalamia (Masters in Arabic and Islamic Studies) from there. Afterwards, he completed his Takhassus fi al-Iftaa (Specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence and Fatwa) from Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom, Karachi. He has also completed his MBA program from a leading private university in Karachi, Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Tariqullah Khan is a Professor at a leading university in Qatar. Previously, he worked in the Islamic Development Bank, IRTI since 1984 in different academic and managerial positions, lastly as the Division Chief of Islamic Banking and Finance, officiating Division Chief Islamic Economics and Development Cooperation, and was Editor of the Islamic Economic Studies Journal. He has contributed with over 25 highly cited research papers in different areas of Islamic finance and developed a number of international flagship conferences in these areas. He also serves in the Editorial/Advisory Board of two leading journals in Islamic economics and finance.

Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq is an Associate Professor with the Department of Economics and Finance at a leading university in Bahrain. He also served as the Head of the Centre for Islamic Finance at Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). Prior to that, he had spent 20 years in the USA, teaching economics and finance, the last thirteen of which were at Upper Iowa University. Dr. Farooq received PhD in economics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1988. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at University of California, Berkeley during 1988-89. He has been an external member of the Rating Committee of International Islamic Rating Agency during 2012-2015. He is a member of the Technical Working Group of AAOIFI for the development of Standards and Guidelines on Ethics. Among his research interests are economic development, history of economic thought, and Islamic economics/finance/banking. His research has focused particularly on Islamic economics/banking/finance, especially with emphasis on the ways and mechanisms to interface Islamic finance with development, poverty alleviation and real economy.

Dr. Salman Ahmed Shaikh did PhD in Economics from National University of Malaysia. His research interest includes Islamic Economics. He is Assistant Professor at a private university in Pakistan. He is the Project Coordinator for the Islamic Economics Project.
